CASA Class 1 Medicals cost $200. This is the one you want if you get paid or would love to get paid to fly (Commercial & Airline Transport Pilots)
CASA Class 2 Medicals cost $175. This is the one you want if you are an aviation tragic and don't get paid to fly (Private Pilots)
CASA Class 3 Medicals cost $200. This is the one you want if you like giving instructions (ATC)
At certain ages, Class 1 and 3 Medicals require extra tests. ECGs cost $50. Audiograms (what?) cost $50. Blood tests for glucose and cholesterol cost $30. See this chart for more details.
Remember to fast for at least 6 hours if you require blood tests as blood glucose may be elevated by any food and certain drinks taken a short period before the test. Water is fine.
If this is your first-ever medical, Class 1 and/or 3 also require a visit to a CASA Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist (eye surgeon) or a CASA Certified Optometrist. You will also need to visit them at age 60 and every 2 years thereafter to retain your Class 1 and/or 3 medical.
Please remember to fill in (and submit) the online MRS questionnaire prior to attending. The questionnaire can be accessed here.
Important: Please remember to click on the SUBMIT MEDICAL button when you have completed the questionnaire (after making payment). If you do not receive an immediate email from CASA acknowledging submission, the questionnaire has NOT been submitted - we cannot proceed with the medical until the questionnaire has been submitted.
If you wear spectacles, please remember to bring your spare pair along as we are now required to test both the glasses/contacts you wear AND the spare pair as well.
